Karim Adeyemi has named Barcelona youngster Xavi Espart as the La Masia player who has impressed him most, while sharing his excitement ahead of his first Clásico.

The Germany international answered questions from Barcelona supporters through the club’s YouTube channel on Thursday, discussing his adaptation to life in Catalonia, his favourite goals and the prospect of facing Real Madrid.

Adeyemi joined Barcelona for the 2026-27 season and is preparing for his first Clásico, with the sides meeting at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday. Asked which academy player had stood out most since his arrival, the forward singled out Espart.

“Xavi Espart is really good. He impressed me,” Adeyemi said.

The praise offered an insight into the impression made by the young midfielder, who has progressed through La Masia and earned a place in the first-team squad. Adeyemi was also asked about the players he most enjoyed watching before joining Barcelona, naming Andrés Iniesta, Neymar and Ronaldinho.

The forward described his own arrival at the club as an easy decision, given Barcelona’s history of attracting elite players.

“It was very clear to me. The best players in the world have always played here. This club is incredible,” he said.

Adeyemi also spoke warmly about the welcome he had received in Catalonia and the role head coach Hansi Flick had played in helping him settle.

“The most important thing he told me was to enjoy the atmosphere of the club and the people in Catalonia,” he said.

The German added that he felt comfortable in his new surroundings, praising the people and the lifestyle. He admitted that some friends still found it difficult to believe he was playing for Barcelona.

“Sometimes I think I'm still in a dream,” he said.

Asked to identify his favourite moment as a Barcelona player so far, Adeyemi chose his first goal at home against Feyenoord, although he hopes Sunday’s match against Real Madrid will provide an even better memory.

“My favourite goal was against Chelsea in the Champions League, but also the first one I scored for Barcelona,” he said.

Adeyemi also named Anthony Gordon as a player who would be among the fastest in a race, joking that he would beat him.

When asked which Barcelona attacker was hardest to defend against in training, he refused to choose between Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

“Lamine. Also Raphinha. I can't choose just one,” he said.

With the Clásico approaching, Adeyemi’s answers offered supporters a glimpse of his personality and early experiences at the club. The forward is clearly relishing the opportunity to represent Barcelona in one of world football’s biggest fixtures, and hopes his first meeting with Real Madrid will become a highlight of his time in Catalonia.
