The Portuguese side will pay an initial €10 million for the 19-year-old, plus a further €2 million in add-ons, according to Pol Ballús of The Athletic, closing out a deal struck after several days of talks between the two clubs.
Marqués made his senior breakthrough under Hansi Flick last season, coming on for Fermín in the 84th minute of Barcelona's win over Mallorca on 7 February 2026. It was the midfielder's 15th matchday squad call-up before he finally got his chance, and Flick handed him minutes in two LaLiga fixtures across the campaign, a limited return that ultimately reflected the strength of competition in Barcelona's midfield.
A Spain Under-19 international, Marqués joined Barcelona's academy in 2015 from CE Europa and progressed steadily through the club's youth ranks, standing out enough to earn a mid-season loan to CF Damm during the 2023-24 campaign before returning to push for a first-team place.
With opportunities limited following the club's midfield reinforcements this summer, Marqués opted to seek regular football elsewhere rather than compete for a fringe role at Camp Nou. Braga had been strongly linked with the teenager in recent days, fending off earlier interest from Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund to get the deal over the line.
The move comes on a busy day for Barcelona's midfield business, with reports of an agreement in principle for Manchester City's Rodri emerging around the same time as talks over Marqués' departure advanced. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have also secured a right of first refusal in the event Braga receive future bids for the teenager, a clause the club has increasingly attached to sales of academy graduates.
For Braga, the arrival of Marqués caps an active summer in the transfer market, following the free signings of midfielder Denis Huseinbasic and forward Jonas Wind, along with reinforcements across defence including goalkeeper Bernardo and centre-backs Sergio Barcia, Adrian Bajrami and Adrian Barisic. The Portuguese club reached the Europa League semi-finals last season before losing to Freiburg.
Personal terms between player and club are not expected to present any obstacle, with Marqués set to complete his move to Portugal in the coming days once the formalities are finalised.
