The Arsenal defender tugged Alexander Isak’s shirt as the striker attempted to reach a cross during Sunday’s 1-0 victory at Anfield. Referee Andy Madley did not award a penalty and VAR did not recommend an on-field review, prompting criticism from Liverpool.
Asked whether the incident could lead to referees taking a different approach to shirt-pulling decisions, Arteta suggested there were plenty of examples involving other teams that could also be examined.
“Yeah, I have a lot of clips about shirt pulls and grabs,” he said.
“I have a massive library that we can talk about. I have a massive library that we can (put out) there to remind everybody what every team is going through.”
The comments echoed Arteta’s remarks last month, when he claimed he was being treated more harshly than other Premier League managers for leaving his technical area.
After being booked during Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton, the Spaniard said he was collecting footage of rival managers stepping outside their designated areas without receiving yellow cards.
“There are managers that have the record in the league - 36 times in 10 minutes leaving the touchline, no yellows,” he said at the time.
“So I'm clipping all of that. I have a massive storage of images.”
Arteta was also asked about William Saliba, who is close to returning after missing the start of the season with a back injury. The defender has not played since sustaining the problem in July, but completed 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly last week and travelled with the squad for Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Slavia Prague.
The Arsenal manager confirmed Saliba had completed a full training session and was ready to be considered for selection.
“He feels very comfortable, he played 45 minutes behind closed doors last week and he feels ready to go. So whether we use him or not now is a matter of what the team needs,” Arteta said.
He added that the club had carefully managed the defender’s workload to minimise the risk of a setback.
“Now he's in a really good place, he's built the capacity that we needed and now it's about giving him minutes.”
Arteta said Saliba was eager to return, but stressed that Arsenal would choose the right moment and manage his involvement carefully.
