The 21-year-old midfielder’s existing agreement was due to expire in 2029, but he has now reached a deal with Madrid for a two-year extension. The new contract also includes a salary increase reflecting his growing importance to the first team.
The agreement, reported by AS, represents Güler’s first renewal since joining Real Madrid from Fenerbahce in 2023. He is now entering his fourth season at the Bernabéu and has established himself as a regular option under José Mourinho.
Güler has started five matches so far this season, while his importance had already grown significantly during the previous campaign. He finished it with 40 starts, six goals and 14 assists, leading the Madrid squad for assists.
His development has continued through a succession of coaches, with Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, Álvaro Arbeloa and Mourinho all highlighting his technical qualities and potential to become a more complete midfielder.
Mourinho has particularly valued the range of qualities Güler brings to his team, pointing to his vision, decision-making and ability to organise play.
“For me, his playing quality is incredible: the vision, decision-making, the organization of play, the stability he gives the team, the creation,” Mourinho said.
“He is a player with fantastic potential who already has very interesting numbers. They are not only assists and goals. They come from a deeper analysis. He's a young man who has a great influence.”
The new agreement places Güler among a group of Madrid players tied to the club well into the future. The Turkish midfielder will still be only 26 when the contract expires, giving Madrid a long-term commitment to a player it increasingly sees as central to its plans. The club’s decision also reflects how quickly his status has changed since his arrival from Turkey. His renewal now formalises that progression.
