Real Sociedad are among the clubs to have sounded out Daichi Kamada, the Japan international who's Crystal Palace contract expires at the end of the month, according to Matteo Moretto.

Kamada, who turns 30 in August, has spent two seasons at Selhurst Park after joining as a free agent from Lazio in 2024 to reunite with coach Oliver Glasner. He won the FA Cup in his first season and finished this campaign in strong form, but Glasner's departure from Crystal Palace opened the door for his own exit.

Moretto, reporting for Radio MARCA, said Sociedad were one of several clubs to have tested the waters with the player's entourage, exploring his openness to LaLiga and understanding his likely wage demands. Salary is identified as the major complication โ€” Kamada has operated at a high wage level throughout his career.

Villarreal and Fiorentina are also understood to be monitoring the situation.

For Real Sociedad, Kamada would be a familiar face in more ways than one. He is a club colleague and national team partner of Take Kubo, who is currently at the World Cup representing Japan alongside the free agent.

Kamada has made his presence felt at the tournament. He scored a late equaliser in Japan's 2-2 draw with the Netherlands in their opener, then opened the scoring in Japan's 4-0 victory over Tunisia โ€” his fourth-minute goal later confirmed as the fastest scored by a Japanese player in World Cup history.

His performances have only strengthened the queue of clubs interested in a free transfer. At his age and contract status, wage demands will determine whether any suitor can make the numbers work.

Kamada left Japan in 2017 for Eintracht Frankfurt, where he spent six years, won the DFB-Pokal and the Europa League, and scored 40 goals in 179 appearances. A one-year stint at Lazio followed before Crystal Palace came calling. LaLiga would be the only major European league he has yet to play in.
