Como are searching the market for Italian players capable of strengthening their squad list ahead of next season's Champions League campaign, with Roma midfielder Niccolo Pisilli emerging as a target who has impressed coach Cesc Fabregas.

According to Sky Sport, the Spanish coach particularly admires Pisilli, with Como already having made an approach to AS Roma over a possible deal.

Como are not the only club to have shown interest in the midfielder, with Nottingham Forest, a club known for its eye on Serie A talent, also said to have made enquiries.

Roma, however, do not appear to have any intention of letting their academy product leave this summer.

Despite a quiet start to the season, Pisilli has gradually become an important figure for head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who values his versatility and consistent work ethic and considers him a key part of his plans for next season.

The 2004-born midfielder made 34 appearances for Roma across all competitions last season, contributing four goals, two in Serie A and two in the Europa League, along with four assists.

Separately, Como could be facing a departure of their own this summer, with midfielder Sergi Roberto reportedly weighing up a new challenge away from the club.

Reports in Spain suggest the former Barcelona player has begun looking at other options, given his contract with Como is due to expire imminently.

Talks between Roberto's camp and the club over a possible renewal have so far failed to produce any meaningful progress, raising the increasingly concrete possibility that the 34-year-old could leave both Como and Serie A during this transfer window.

Roberto made 24 appearances across all competitions for Como this season, scoring once in the Coppa Italia.

His potential exit would leave a gap in central midfield that Como may look to address as part of the same recruitment push that has led them to Pisilli, with Fabregas keen to add experienced operators capable of handling both domestic football and a return to the Champions League.

Como's wider transfer strategy this summer appears to be built around adding precisely the kind of versatile, technically reliable players that both Pisilli and Roberto represent, even as the club faces the prospect of losing the latter on a free transfer.

Fabregas has overseen a notable rise in ambition at Como since taking charge, with the club's push for Champions League-ready squad depth reflecting a desire to compete on a wider stage following last season's promotion.

Pisilli's situation in particular is likely to develop slowly given Roma's clear reluctance to sell, with Gasperini's endorsement of the midfielder expected to make any approach from Como or Nottingham Forest considerably more difficult to advance this summer.
